A business which has flourished as part of The Hive business development centre in North Somerset has moved to the next stage of growth, with a relocation to new premises.
Leading contract furniture provider Furniture23 has moved into units 5 and 6 of the WestONE development at Weston Gateway Business Park.
The move comes as the company celebrates the securing and delivery of a wealth of new client wins, team expansion and an annual turnover heading towards £3 million in the current financial year.
Furniture23 has, over recent months, added global pharmaceutical group Alliance Pharmaceuticals, Parmemion, part of Aberdeen Standard Investments and Prologis, UK’s leading developer and owner of industrial and logistics companies, to its existing client base that includes financial administration world leaders, Computershare. More locally, they have completed impressive projects for Bristol University, independent law firm Burges Salmon and Bristol architects Stride Treglown. In conjunction with Wylde Interior architects, they have also furnished the offices of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) in Quedgeley.
Furniture23 moved into The Hive in January 2015 with aspirations for growth, based on an established reputation for providing quality contract furniture – including exclusive brands and classic accessories – along with impressive knowledge, expertise and a real zeal for identifying new designs and trends.
Focusing purely on furniture, rather than Design and Build model, the company has established an admirable client base across the South West and nationally, with specific expertise in higher education, commercial and public sector work. In recent months, the team have completed their first projects in Europe in such locations such as Romania, Dusseldorf and Budapest, with more in the pipeline.
Working with one-person businesses through to major organisations and providing everything from an individual chair to 500 workstations, Furniture23 also offer a comprehensive after-sales service including delivery and installation plus ongoing client support, advice and recommendations.
The now seven-strong team enjoyed the freedom and support to grow during its time at The Hive, seamlessly moving into larger offices and a warehouse as expansion demanded. Furniture23’s new offices and warehouse will ensure it now has space to house specific departments, allowing it to be agile and efficient during future growth.
Furniture23’s Managing Director Chris Fox says: “The Hive was amazing in supporting our growth and success and we didn’t really want to leave! We love the people and have many friends there. Fortunately, we have many customers and suppliers at The Hive too, so they give us plenty of excuses to remain part of the community and make frequent return visits!
“We have had an incredible year, with a rush of major projects and a boom particularly in commercial projects. Our exciting relocation will allow us to grow and recruit further and fulfil our goals of developing young people into the industry.”
Under the company’s apprenticeship scheme – which is close to Chris’s heart as he entered the world of contract furniture through an opportunity provided by the Youth Training Scheme (YTS) – Lauren Venton has progressed from Apprentice to Logistics Manager. Chris hopes many more will follow in her footsteps.
“With a new website (www.furniture23.com), a dynamic team in a more efficient structure, a new space in which to work and considerable investment in our IT solutions, we are set for a very exciting and memorable year.” he says.
Rob Hicks of The Hive says: “”Our goal is to give businesses based with us every opportunity for growth and to do so within a building and business community of which we are incredibly proud. We are delighted that Furniture23 has enjoyed such dynamic success over the past four years and that we have been able to play a supporting role. We wish the business every future success.”
